Home Life

I'm fifty something and live by the River Thames in London's Docklands.

Other Interests

Lately I've been exploring some other ideas for fun, including the notion of things which design themselves - see my Epigenesis page for some informal papers on this.

I also do a bit or writing.

For many years I was very involved in the Movement for Democratic Change, Zimbabwe's main opposition party.

For recreation I go used to go hang gliding, but haven't done so in recent years. I hold my Club Pilot's licence, having trained at CMS in Glenshee and at Lejair in Norfolk. I completed my Club Pilot and Hill Conversion in Lanzarote in 2000, with Lejair. I fly a Discovery hang glider and have now completed several hours of hill soaring, which is tremendous fun. Last time I flew I got hassled by a cloud, which was interesting.

I am very interested in the areas of mind, information, knowledge and thought. I presented a paper on some Artificial Intelligence concepts at the IEE in June 1995, including the idea of "virtual meaning". I finally found it again on the Internet (see Papers section).
